Cree company's new high power LED XHP35 series

     American Cree Corporation has introduced the XLamp XHP35 family of light-emitting diodes, which produce 50% more light output than Cree's previous highest performance single-chip LED, setting a new performance standard with a 3.5mm footprint.

     Based on Cree's technology SC5 platform, XHP35 introduces the company's high-voltage power chip architecture, which licensed vendors are racing to use existing drivers to produce extreme high-power leds at full capacity. The XHP35 offers up to 1833 lumens without a multi-core LED to enable a new design with reduced size and lower system cost, said Kerry's optical efficiency.

     "The XHP35 LED brings the performance of the XP footprint of Cree's Extreme high-power LED," comments Jorge Fraile Hotel, CEO of Hispaled. "In addition to providing an amazing amount of light, the XHP35 LED allows us to leverage existing drivers to achieve the full performance of Cree's high-power leds at lower drive currents."

     Kerry said that unlike other existing high-power leds, the XHP35 series uses a new 12V single-chip power chip with a drive current of less than 1A, providing extremely high power performance, making it easier to use high-power leds for lighting designers. It is uniquely enabled by Cree's technology SC5 platform, which is built on Cree's silicon carbide technology and features advancements in epitaxial architecture, chip architecture and optical conversion systems optimized for thermal and optical performance.

     The XHP35 LED is in a high-density and high-intensity version that is optimized to provide maximum performance for specific applications. The XHP35 high density LED provides a new level of light output in compact XP footprint high lumen applications such as outdoor and high shed lighting. The XHP35 high-intensity LED lamp, by optimizing secondary optics, provides maximum candela to improve performance and reduce size requirements for high-light intensity applications such as stadium, torch, and tracking lighting.

     Samples of both high-density and high-intensity leds are now available, and mass production batches are available with standard lead times. The XHP35 LED lights are also available for 70,80 and 90 color reproduction index (CRI) and related color temperature (transverse theme) ranging from 2700K to 8300K with 2-step and 3-step EASYWHITE options.
