Cypress introduces the industry's fastest 64Mb Quad SPI NOR flash memory with extended temperature range

     Cypress Semiconductor, a leader in embedded systems, has announced a 1.8V, 64Mb NOR flash memory with a Quad serial peripheral interface (Quad SPI). With the Quad SPI interface, this newest member of the Cypress FS-S NOR flash family offers the highest read bandwidth and fastest programming speed in the industry, with a compact PCB layout. Ideal for high performance applications such as video game consoles, Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), automotive dashboards and infotainment systems, network equipment and set-top boxes.

     High performance systems require the highest read bandwidth to execute programs, as well as small, low pin count packages and the fastest program and sector erase speeds. The Cypress 64Mb FS-S Quad SPI NOR flash provides high-performance systems with 80 MBps read bandwidth in an 80-mhz double Data rate (DDR) mode for the fastest program execution. Available in industry-standard 8-pin SOIC and 24-ball BGA packages, the device not only saves board space but also simplifies layout.

     Its programming speed is 0.475-ms/512 bytes, so it can improve data throughput and write new data quickly. This flash memory product has low standby current and offers a deep power saving mode to extend battery life for battery-powered applications. The FS-S NOR Flash family is AEC-Q100 automotive certified and supports an extended temperature range of -40˚C to +125˚C.
