Dialog Semiconductor's voip technology was adopted by Vtech

     Dialog, a highly integrated and innovative provider of power management, audio and proximity wireless technology solutions, announced that its Green VoIP chip family of ultra-low power voip chips has been adopted by VTech, a leading provider of corded and cordless phones.

     Under the terms of the partnership agreement, Vtech will use Dialog's SC14452 and SC14461VoIP processors and Rhea software suite to produce a range of Voice over Internet (VoIP) corded and cordless phones. The first of these, the S-Series single - and dual-line phone systems, has been designed for the hotel market and entered mass production in the fourth quarter of 2011. The design successfully extends Dialog's relationship with Vtech, which has already adopted the company's DECT chip technology in its digital cordless telephone sets.

     Vtech's S-Series voip phones include multi-call and multi-cell capabilities, speaker hands-free functionality, IEEE 802.3AF standard Power over Ethernet, and a USB charging unit, along with a range of other advanced hotel phone features. In addition, Vtech's SIP cordless desktop phones include digital technologies such as DECT, CAT-iq and DECT 6.0 with adjustable coverage to provide improved clarity and installation management.

     Dialog's SC14452 is an award-winning VoIP chip with built-in DECT support that has the flexibility to meet the diverse needs of a diverse range of users and manufacturers. It features a 16-bit CompactRISC™ processor and two user-programmable Gen2 digital signal processors, providing 240-MIPS computing power. This device uses a lower clock frequency to achieve the lowest power consumption in the industry, saving up to 2W per desktop phone compared to other solutions. It includes a 32KHz wideband audio codec, Class D amplifier and perfect acoustic echo canceller (PAEC) to deliver exceptional speech clarity. Its sister device, the SC14461, has nearly the same performance as the SC14452, but does not support DECT and is mainly targeted at various corded bench models.
