Harwin continues to strengthen its portfolio of interconnect solutions for harsh application environments by adding new products to its flagship Datamate Hi-Rel product family. In response to space-constrained RF/wireless designs, each member of the Datamate Coax family includes multiple (linked) coaxial contacts in a compact housing.

     Harwin continues to strengthen its portfolio of interconnect solutions for harsh application environments by adding new products to its flagship Datamate Hi-Rel product family. In response to space-constrained RF/wireless designs, each member of the Datamate Coax family includes multiple (linked) coaxial contacts in a compact housing. Because they provide access to multiple coaxial lines through a single connection point, these devices provide engineers with a very convenient, space-saving, and cost-effective way to meet different connection needs.

     The number of contacts available is 2, 4, 6 and 8, and the contacts included in each Datamate coaxial cable connector are configured in the form of a single - or double-ended socket with a pitch of 4.00mm. They offer powerful RF performance features at frequencies up to 6GHz. The inherently stable construction of these connectors means they can handle high levels of shock (100G) and vibration (10G / 200Hz), as well as extreme temperatures (-55 ° C to +125 ° C).

     Key applications for the energy-efficient, heavy-duty Datamate coaxial cable connector series include avionics, radar, robotics, industrial automation, military and medical, and general wireless communications. Thanks to the technical expertise of Harwin's engineering team and the company's proven track record in a variety of challenging Hi-Rel application scenarios, the cable assembly ensures long-term job integrity while reducing the associated tool costs that Oems face when performing this work in-house. Available cable lengths are 150mm, 300mm and 450mm.

     "In most cases, OEM engineers simply don't have the time or resources to design their own custom cable assemblies for the new products they are developing. Early in the project, it's not always very convenient to procure tools for small prototype batches and put them in place. In addition, coaxial cable tends to be very time consuming, and such activities require a lot of care and attention." Scott Flower, product strategy manager for Harwin's High-Rel product line, said: "Because Harwin remains highly vertically integrated, we are able to address these issues directly - providing a premium out-of-the-box wiring solution that allows our customers to complete the prototyping phase much faster and move fully into volume production."
