Infineon OPTIGA TPM chips secure the new Microsoft Surface terminal

     Microsoft focuses on adopting hardware-based security solutions to protect sensitive user data stored in connected devices. Microsoft's latest personal computing devices - which include a new generation of the Surface Pro 4 tablet and the first Microsoft-branded portable computer, the Surface Book - use the OPTIGA TPM (Trusted Platform Module) product from Infineon Technologies AG.

     A TPM is a separate security chip outside the main processor that holds sensitive data, including keys, certificates, and user passwords, to better protect computing terminals from unauthorized access, tampering, and data theft. For example, the Microsoft drive encryption application BitLocker uses TPM to securely store its keys and passwords.

     Infineon is recognized worldwide as a leading provider of trusted computing security solutions. Microsoft Personal computing devices feature OPTIGA™ TPM SLB 9665 - the industry's first security controller to receive security certification based on the latest TPM 2.0 standard. The standard was developed by the Trusted Computing Group (TCG). The Trusted Computing Organization is an international standards organization whose members include Intel and Google. The TPM 2.0 specification is based on state-of-the-art encryption and security algorithms. In addition, the organization specifically sets security standards for mobile computing, such as laptops and tablets, as well as iot terminals with special security needs.
