ON Semiconductor introduces the next generation 1.2 megapixel CMOS image sensor with advanced global shutter technology

     ON Semiconductor, driving energy efficient innovation, introduces the AR0135 Global shutter CMOS image sensor, demonstrating another significant advance in its image sensing technology. The 1/3-inch format, 1.2 megapixel imaging device is designed to address the challenging requirements of automotive imaging and high-speed barcode scanning, as well as emerging applications such as virtual reality and three-dimensional depth sensing. The new global shutter sensor allows the camera to "freeze" fast-moving scene data and ensure effective synchronization with the pulsed light source.

     The AR0135 sensor combines a new and innovative global shutter pixel design with 10x lower dark current and 4x higher shutter performance than its predecessor. These improvements enable the sensor to produce clear, low-noise images in both low and bright scenes and at high temperatures. This capability provides the required eye tracking and gesture detection capabilities for the next generation of automotive cabin systems, and increases the detection speed of barcode scanning systems.
