Power Integrations introduces the revolutionary SCALE-iDriver IC, bringing highly reliable SCALE-2 driver technology to 1200 V applications
Power Integrations offers A range of electrically insulated single-channel gate driver ics with output currents between 2.5A and 8A, the largest output current in the industry today without an external push stage. The SCALE iDriver™ IC provides drivers for both IGBTs and MOSFETs, and is the first to bring FluxLink™ magnetically induced bidirectional communication technology pioneered by Power Integrations to 1200 V driver applications.
FluxLink technology can eliminate the relatively low reliability of optoelectronic devices and related compensation circuits, so as to enhance the reliability of system operation, while reducing the complexity of the system. In addition to industry-leading insulation technology, the new gate driver incorporates advanced system safety and protection features commonly used in medium and high voltage applications, further enhancing product reliability. The innovative eSOP package has a creepage distance of 9.5 mm and a CTI(compared to the creepage index) of 600, ensuring a greater operating voltage margin and higher system reliability.
The SCALE-iDriver single-channel gate driver IC significantly reduces the number of components, thereby saving space and reducing BOM costs, while increasing design flexibility for direct use in inverters up to 110kW. With the addition of A simple and low-cost push stage, the development speed of efficient, space-saving, high-reliability inverter designs is greatly increased, and the applicable inverter power can reach 400 kW (15 A). The device complies with IEC 60664-1 and IEC 61800-5-1 standards and operates at temperatures ranging from -40°C to +125°C and frequencies up to 250 kHz. In addition, they feature Power Integrations' Advanced Soft Switch-off (ASSD) function, which provides safe switch-off protection in the event of a short circuit in a power semiconductor. ASSD is automatically triggered by monitoring the desaturation level of the power device without the need for additional components.

FluxLink has a wide insulation gap, excellent reliability, and the ultra-thin packaging technology allows the use of common double-sided PCBS, reducing size and system costs."
