ST introduces the industry's first AEC-Q100 certified 2Mbit EEPROM chip

     ST introduces the industry's first AEC-Q100 certified 2Mbit EEPROM chip, providing more application opportunities for complex automotive system module storage and management parameters. Improving the power conversion efficiency and environmental performance of a hybrid, electric, or heavy-duty truck engine requires extensive use of a variety of parameters, including air intake, fuel injection, exhaust emissions, or battery charging information. Similarly, various automotive safety applications, including airbags, dashcams or brake controllers, require the storage and processing of a large number of output parameters to perform object detection, 3-axis motion sensing, wheel speed and steering Angle.

     St's new M95M02 EEPROM chip combines large storage capacity, more copies and data retention performance (4 million erases per byte, up to 10MHz clock rate and up to 100 years of data retention). These features improve the Control accuracy and flexibility of the Electronic Control Unit (ECU). With the complex control algorithm of ECU, the new EEPROM maximizes the control accuracy of ECU by fine real-time monitoring of environmental parameters.

     The unique 2Mbit EEPROM chip on the market provides an additional 256 bytes lockable page to securely store module tracking data, identification codes or mission-critical data. Lockable protection pages have a dedicated memory access command to avoid interacting with the standard units of the storage array. Mission-critical data can be updated, erased, or locked into read-only mode, greatly improving data security.

     St's M95M02-A125 EEPROMs has been tested to AEC-Q100 Level 1 reliability standard and has an operating voltage of 2.5V and an operating temperature of up to 125°C. The new product increases ST's automotive-grade EEPROM capacity from 2K to 2Mbit in a single SO8N size package, helping to increase the overall flexibility of the design. The M95M02-A125 is now in production.
