STMicroelectronics STM32F7 microcontrollers add new product lines, expand the development ecosystem, and lower the bar for high-performance embedded design

     With the introduction of a new product line and the addition of accessories and options to the development ecosystem, ST's STM32F7 series microcontrollers lower the bar for high-performance embedded designs based on the ARM® Cortex®-M7 core. The latest products in the STM32F7 high-performance family, the STM32F722 and STM32F723, reduce memory footprint and integrate value-added features, including code execution protection and high-speed USB physical layer (PHY) circuits that simplify the development of connected applications.

     The STM32F732 and STM32F733 integrate on-chip cryptographic algorithms, such as an efficient AES256 hardware engine. To meet different uses and needs, for example, projects requiring a large number of I/O pins, the new product line offers users a variety of package options, from 64-pin LQFP to 176-pin LQFP or UFBGA, on-chip flash capacity of 256KB or 512KB, and 256KB RAM.

     In terms of pins, packaging and software, ST has improved the compatibility of the new product line with the STM32F7 high-end product line. The high-end product integrates 256KB to 2MB flash memory and 256KB to 512KB RAM memory in TFBGA packages with up to 216 pins, and wider compatibility simplifies design upgrades to meet product differentiation and future application needs. The STM32F7 project can be ported anywhere within the STM32 family of products. The STM32 family of more than 700 products covers all 32-bit Cortex-M cores, offering users a variety of peripherals, a different number of pins, and storage capacity options.

     ST also introduced a new STM32F769 Discovery Kit whose expansion connector includes an 8-pin Wi-Fi module slot with support for power over Ethernet (PoE). Other features include a 512-Mbit Quad-SPI (QSPI) flash interface, where new accessories help increase application flexibility and extend application range, for example, B-LCDAD-RPI1 15-pin single-row flexible printed circuit board DSI adapter board and B-LCDAD-HDMI1 DSI-to-HDMI adapter for increased flexibility in display connection. The Discovery Kit can also be pre-installed with a B-LCD40-DSI 4-inch WVGA capacitive touch screen display or, for greater economy, without a display. If the kit needs to be upgraded in the future, the B-LCD40-DSI can be purchased separately.
