Samsung Electronics introduced the 2TB 850 PRO and 850 EVO solid-state drives

     Samsung Electronics announced the launch of the 2 terabyte (TB) 850 PRO and 850 EVO solid-state drive (SSD). Based on the retail SSD lineup, Samsung's 3D Vertical NAND (V-NAND) now features 20 different products with a wide range of 120 gigabytes (GB) to 2TB capacity options. Available in 50 countries, the launch of 2TB drives addresses the growing consumer demand for high-performance and high-capacity memory solutions.

The release of 2TB SSDS is an era of powerful driver to TB-class SSD solutions," UN said, -Soo Kim, senior vice president of branded Product Marketing, Memory business at Samsung Electronics, "We will continue to expand our portfolio of ultra-high performance and high-density SSDS, and deliver a new computing experience to users around the world."

     The new 2TB SSD 850 PRO and EVO drives remain in the same 7mm, 2.5-inch aluminum alloy housing as their predecessors. Equipped with Samsung's advanced chip solutions, including 128 individual Samsung 32-layer 128GB 3D V-NAND flash chips, which can support 2TB capacity of upgraded high-performance MHX controllers and four 20nm process technology-based 4Gb LPDDR3 DRAM chips, The 2TB 850 series delivers industry-leading performance and energy efficiency. With the increased capacity, professionals and consumers can experience rich content such as 4K UHD video editing and viewing in a smooth computing environment prepared for intense demands.

     Samsung guarantees the 2TB 850 PRO for 10 years or 300 terabytes write (TBW), and the 2TB 850 EVO for five years or 150 TBW. Following the launch of the 2TB hard Drive 850, Samsung will expand its high-capacity 3D V-NAND SSD lineup to include mSATA and M.2 forms to address the gaming PC, notebook and high-performance SSD markets.
