TDK has announced the new Epcos PQSine Series active harmonic filter for optimizing power quality

     TDK Corporation has announced the new EPCOS PQSine Series active harmonic filter for optimizing power quality. Its modular filtering system is designed for 3-phase neutral or non-neutral grids with voltages from 200 V AC to 480 V AC and a primary frequency of 50/60 Hz. In addition, the PQSine active harmonic filter can analyze and eliminate up to 50 harmonics. The new filter family is available in A variety of models with A rated filter current of up to 600 A (with a step value of 60 A).

     The core unit of the PQSine active harmonic filter is a controller based on a 32-bit digital signal processor (DSP), and the processor runs at a scanning frequency of 48 kHz. The new filter uses a newly developed Selective Drive control (SDC) algorithm, which is faster than the traditional algorithm based on the fast Fourier Transform (FFT), and has a response time of only 21μs. Compared with typical power factor correction (which only corrects inductive loads), the PQSine active harmonic filter can also compensate capacitive passive power loads.

     The new filter not only provides excellent filtering performance, but also balances the load in all phases, with the 4-wire model correcting the neutral current. In addition, the new filter is equipped with a 7-inch or 12.1-inch TFT color touch screen, enabling a user-friendly user interface for setting parameters and monitoring the operation of the system.

     The PQSine active harmonic filter improves power quality on the grid, and its main applications include frequency converters, UPS systems, production equipment in the data center and semiconductor industries, as well as photovoltaic systems and wind turbines. In addition, PQSine filters are also suitable for office buildings and shopping centers.
