Texas Instruments introduces the highest resolution pressure sensor signal regulator
Texas Instruments has introduced the industry's highest resolution pressure sensor signal regulator, the PGA900, which enables fast and accurate 24-bit measurements of pressure, stress, flow and liquid levels. The PGA900 signal regulator provides a programmable core for flexible linearization and temperature compensation in many pressure-sensitive bridge sensing applications.
The main purpose of the sensor signal regulator is to process the front-end nonlinear signal into a linear output, and the linearity directly determines the accuracy, which involves many factors such as the internal ADC quantization accuracy, the processor core used for nonlinear to linear and the output interface (0-5V or 4mA-20mA for industrial use). In addition, integration also puts high demands on the chip.
To meet this requirement, the PGA900 integrates two low-noise 24-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) for high-resolution signal acquisition, a 14-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) for high linear analog output, and a variety of output interfaces. These include analog voltages, 4-20mA current loops, Serial peripheral interfaces (SPI), I2C, Universal Asynchronous transceivers (UART), and single-wire interfaces (OWI), providing designers with options for different application needs. The PGA900's integrated power management also meets external power supply voltage input requirements between 3.3V and 30V.
Another feature of the PGA900 is the built-in ARM Cortex-M0 core that enables developers to design distinctive end products with proprietary temperature and nonlinear compensation algorithms. Sensor +MCU is now the standard configuration in the industrial Internet of Things, and TI is also following the trend of integrating MCU in the PGA900. Because to do a simple operation of the 24-bit ADC directly output, you need a kernel with a little real-time control such as M0, which can be integrated together to increase the cost effectiveness of the system design.
In addition, in order to make the Sensor design easier and faster, TI provides a complete set of discrete signal conditioning & ADC-dedicated analog front-end - fully integrated sensor-Sensor Hub MCU, and provides a complete reference design such as TI Designs. As a very targeted reference design, TI Designs currently has more than 50 reference solutions in the library, which can be used for ISO610004 ESD air discharge 13kV certification, plus EM certification.
