     SCHURTER's popular power input modules, the KFA series, are now equipped with an additional grounding choke to suppress high-frequency interference caused by the grounding loop of the grounding wire. In addition, the new grounding wire choke improves the high frequency asymmetric attenuation in the medical filter model. The KFA series' existing common mode chokes with phase and neutral lines, as well as the additional ground line chokes, enhance the challenges faced by certified engineers to solve EMC problems.

     The ground wire connections of each component in the device have different impedances, thus forming a ground loop. While all ground connections have the same potential level at a 50 Hz load current, these ground connections form different potential levels when encountering high-frequency interference. If the grounding choke is connected between the power inlet connector and the filter output terminal, this problem can be solved skillfully. Because the grounding choke is directly at the input end of the power line, the high-frequency interference current on the grounding line cannot pass through the equipment housing to bypass the filter. The grounding wire choke isolates high-frequency interference on the device chassis and isolates the grounding of the device from the grounding of the line power connection. This treatment can effectively block any possible grounding loop.

     Taking audio equipment as an example, this type of equipment is very easy to cause ground loop problems, in general, we will call this type of phenomenon noise. The KFA is fitted with a grounding wire choke that is ideal for suppressing interference that can degrade sound quality. At the same time, KFA is ideal for medical devices that require low-leakage current filters to improve patient safety. The reduced or eliminated Y capacitance to the ground attenuates the high frequency interference asymmetrical, and the KFA with a grounded choke helps to compensate for this attenuation.

     The KFA power input module contains an IEC C14 power outlet, 1 or 2-pole fuse holder and EMC filter, and is available in a variety of models. This series is rated from 1A to 10A(under 250 VAC) according to IEC and UL standards. This series is certified by ENEC and cURus for applications specified in IEC 60950. In addition, the M5 and M80 special filter models comply with medical devices designed according to IEC 60601-1 general standards. The KFA power input module is connected to a quick connector or flexible conductor. The KFA is compatible with the V-Lock power cord kit to safely prevent accidental power disconnection.
