U-blox launches auto-grade Bluetooth LE module
U-blox, a leading global provider of location and wireless communications technologies and services, announced the launch of the u-blox NINA-B5 Bluetooth LE module family. Built on the NXP KW45 chipset, the vehicle scale series is u-blox's first standalone, low-power Bluetooth automotive module. The powerful wireless MCU supports Bluetooth LE 5.3, advanced security features such as NXP EdgeLock, ArmTrustZone, and FlexCAN, CAN, CAN FD, LIN bus interfaces.
U-blox Automotive products CAN operate stably at temperatures up to 105ºC, and the u-blox NINA-B5 module incorporates Bluetooth LE 5.3, enhanced safety features and support for the CAN bus; In addition, NINA-B5 is more powerful and more compact at the same time, and the shorter development cycle and more streamlined bill of materials can help product developers save design space and improve product cost effectiveness.
The NINA-B5 Industrial series is based on the NXP K32W148 chipset and supports Thread, Matter and Zigbee standards to provide professional support for industrial applications.
The NINA-B5 can be ordered with an integrated high-performance PCB antenna or an antenna pin that supports connection to an external antenna. All modules are certified globally, so there is no need for prolonged RF testing in the country.
The NINA-B5 is ideal for a wide range of automotive applications, such as keyless door switches, battery management, LED lighting controls, sensor hubs or dashcams, but can also easily be adapted to any type of industrial and smart home application. Such as home automation (lighting, access control) as well as micro-mobility (electric bicycles), power tools or mobile robots (lawn mowers).
