Vishay's new Power Metal Strip resistors are 8 times more power-dissipating than other resistors
Vishay introduces the WSLP0805 in a compact 0805 package size with power levels up to 1W. 18-- Surface mount Power Metal Strip® resistor. Vishay Dale WSLP0805... With a high power to space ratio and an extremely low resistance of 0.005Ω, the 18 offers significant space savings in automotive and computer applications.
WSLP0805... 18 resistance structure advanced, using low TCR(< 20PPM/℃) solid Metal nickel-chromium or mangano-copper resistance core achieves high Power resistance in 0805 package size while maintaining the excellent electrical characteristics of the Power Metal Strip structure. The small size of the device allows it to replace larger galvanometric resistors, saving space on the circuit board and resulting in a smaller, lighter product for consumers.
WSLP0805... The 18's power dissipation is eight times greater than other 0805 package size devices, making it ideal for all types of galvanometer and pulse applications, including switches and linear power supplies, meters, power amplifiers, and bypass resistors in automotive electronic control devices such as engine, transmission, audio, and temperature control. To improve reliability, the resistance reduces the CTE(coefficient of thermal expansion) that does not match the PCB, reducing the possibility of cracking solder joints due to thermal cycling.
