Wireless MCU for Bluetooth 5 low power and Zigbee
The SimpleLink CC2340R2 device is a 2.4GHz wireless MCU for Bluetooth 5 low power and Zigbee. Optimized for low-power wireless communication as an entry-level SoC, the device can be used in a wide range of end products in categories such as medical, building automation, beacons, asset tracking, disposables, smart grid, and personal electronics. In addition, the device can serve as an additional BLE network processor (or "data pump"), adding full BLE functionality to the main MCU via a serial interface. Outstanding features of the device include:
Support for Bluetooth 5 features: high-speed mode (2Mbps physical), remote (LE encoded 125kbps and 500kbps physical), privacy 1.2.1 and channel selection Algorithm #2, as well as backward compatibility and support for key features of Bluetooth 4.2 and earlier low power specifications.
Ultra-low standby current of less than 0.71 μA, RTC operation and full RAM retention significantly extend battery life, especially for applications with long sleep intervals. The fully qualified Bluetooth 5.3 software protocol stack is included in the SimpleLink CC23xx SDK. Zigbee Green Power stack is supported in the SimpleLink CC23xx SDK. Integrated balance provides a reduced BOM board layout. BLE radio sensitivity and robustness (selectivity and blocking) performance (125kbps LE encoded PHY-102dBm with integrated balance).
The device is pin-to-pin compatible with the CC2340R5 RGE package. The device is also part of the SimpleLink MCU platform, which includes Wi-Fi, BLE, Thread, Zigbee, Sub-1GHz MCUS, and host MCUS, all of which share a common, easy-to-use development environment with a single-core SDK and rich toolset. The one-time integration of the SimpleLink platform allows users to add any combination of combined devices to a design, allowing 100% code reuse when design requirements change.
