Cypress PSoC 6 MCU enables innovative wearable health products

     Cypress Semiconductor, Inc. announced that OuraHealth's new Oura Smart Ring features the industry's lowest power and most flexible dual-core MCU with built-in Bluetooth Low Power (BLE) wireless connectivity, a Cypress PSoC6BLE microcontroller (MCU). Cypress's secure PSoC6MCU architecture enables Oura users to support continuous tracking of sleep, physical recovery and daily activities for up to seven days after a single charge.

     The PSoC6MCU features an ultra-low-power 40nm process, low-power design, and Arm@Cortex@-M4 and Cortex-M0+ dual-core architecture, enabling the new Oura ring to more than triple its battery life, increase its processing power by 10 times, and reduce its size by 50%. The PSoC6MCU's BLE connectivity seamlessly syncs users' data to the Oura app and Oura cloud, and supports over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates. With the PSoC6MCU's integrated flash memory, the Oura ring can store data offline for up to six weeks.
