Cypress introduces automotive MCU solutions that support dynamic 3D graphics

     Cypress Semiconductor announced the launch of a new family of its TraveoTM automotive MCU (microcontroller) products equipped with more storage space to support a hybrid dashboard with 3D imaging capabilities and up to six traditional meters, as well as a head-up display. The highly integrated, single-chip S6J32xEK family of devices offers advanced 3D and 2.5D graphics engines and requires a Cypress low-bow | pin HyperBusTM storage interface for expansion. This new family of products further expands Cypress's broad portfolio of automotive products that offer superior and differentiated system performance, including MCUS, radio frequency, capacitive touch solutions, memory and power management (PMIC).

     The Traveom S6J32xEK family integrates 4MB of high-density embedded flash memory, 512KB RAM and 2MBVideo RAM, 240-Mhz AmCortex@-R5 core, LVDS video output, LVTTL video output, and control of six steppers. Devices with this combination of capabilities provide single-chip solutions that support dual displays. In addition, the family can support up to two 12-pin HyperBus storage interfaces, which can significantly improve the read and write performance of graphic data and other data or code. A single HyperBus interface allows two memories to be connected for Firmware over the Air (FOTA), allowing end users to download software patches, new features and applications while the car is on the move. This family of devices supports all automotive networking standards required for dashboard systems, including CAN-FD(Controller Local Area Network Bus - Flexible Data Transfer) protocol and Ethernet AVB protocol. In addition, the series integrates the Enhanced Security Hardware Extension (eSHE) function, which provides higher security performance.

     The new TraveoTM S6J32xEK series includes a 50-channel 12-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC), a 12-channel multifunction serial interface and a 12-S interface to absorb audio digital-to-analog converters (audio Dacs) capable of producing the high-quality composite sound required for today's dashboards.
