Cypress introduces the industry's fastest 256Mb Quad SPI NOR flash memory

     Cypress Semiconductor, a leader in embedded system solutions, has introduced a 256Mb NOR flash memory product with a Quad serial peripheral interface (Quad SPI). With Quad SPI's 4KB unified sector, the new Cypress FL-L NOR flash provides the highest read bandwidth and fastest programming speed in the industry while guaranteeing a compact PCB layout. By adopting a uniform and small physical storage sector, this flash memory can optimally store program code and parameter data. The device is ideal for high-performance applications such as video game consoles, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), automotive dashboards and infotainment systems, connected devices and set-top boxes.

     High performance systems require the highest read bandwidth to execute programs, as well as small, low pin count packages and the fastest programming and sector erase speeds. Cypress's 256Mb FL-L Quad SPI NOR flash provides high performance systems with 66 MBps read bandwidth in a 66-mhz double Data rate (DDR) mode for the fastest program execution.

     The device comes in a compact 48-mm2 package that not only saves board space, but also simplifies layout. Its programming speed is 0.30-ms/256 bytes, so it can improve throughput; With a sector erase time of 50-ms, new data can be written quickly. The new product features low standby current and offers a deep power saving mode to extend battery life for battery-powered applications. The FL-L NOR Flash series is AEC-Q100 automotive certified and supports an extended temperature range: -40˚C-+125˚C.
