Digilent's N210 series provides high bandwidth, high dynamic range functionality for SDR/ cognitive radio
Digilent's Ettus USRP N210 is a family of high-performance hardware products for General Purpose Software Radio Peripherals (USRP) that allow engineers to quickly design and implement powerful, flexible software radio systems. The hardware is suitable for applications requiring high RF performance and excellent bandwidth. Applications include physical layer prototyping, dynamic spectrum access and cognitive radio, spectrum monitoring, recording and playback, and network sensor deployment.
The USRP N210 provides high-bandwidth, high-dynamic range processing capabilities. The USRP N210's gigabit Ethernet interface supports high-speed transmission capabilities of up to 100 MS/s in both directions (8-bit sampling). These features, combined with the plug and play MIMO capability, make the USRP N210 ideal for software radio (SDR) systems with high performance requirements.
The USRP N210's product architecture includes Xilinx Spartan 3A-DSP 3400 FPGA, 100 MS/s dual-channel ADC, 400 MS/s dual-channel DAC, and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity for data streaming to and from the host processor. The modular design enables the USRP N210 to operate in the DC to 6 GHz frequency range; The expansion port allows multiple USRP N210 series devices to be synchronized and used for MIMO configuration. The optional GPSDO module can also be used to keep the USRP N210 reference clock within 0.01 ppm of the global GPS standard.
The device can intertransmit with host applications at speeds up to 50 MS/s. Users can implement custom functions in FPGA architecture or onboard 32-bit RISC soft core. The USRP N210 offers a larger FPGA than the USRP N200 and is suitable for applications that require additional logic, memory, and DSP resources. This FPGA also offers the potential to process up to 100 MS/s in both send and receive directions. The FPGA firmware can be reloaded via the Gigabit Ethernet interface
