HELL A Aglaia and NXP announce an open vision platform for safe autonomous driving

     HELL A Aglaia and NXP are expanding the current ADAS vehicle vision platform with the addition of artificial intelligence (AI) expected in 2018. HELL AAglaia's ADAS platform, powered by NXP's S32 and i.MX automotive-grade processors, enables secure, scalable and comprehensive NCAP forward-looking capabilities, enabling 0EM to deploy the ADAS platform into production vehicles. The next step in the collaboration is to add artificial intelligence for autonomous driving to this innovative modular platform. This will provide system integrators and vehicle manufacturers with unprecedented design flexibility while ensuring compliance with stringent ASIL requirements.

     Many vision platforms on the market today are closed and proprietary, limiting further software integration and "locking in" the ability of system integrators and automakers to innovate and combine the best sensor technology and software resources on the market. HELLA and NXP entered into their collaboration and joint development with the firm belief that camera-based platforms must be open and secure to enable NCAP functionality and level 3 to Level 5 autonomous driving.
