Microprocessors that allow advanced iot devices to balance performance, power consumption and cost

     STMicroelectronics, the world's leading semiconductor company serving multiple electronic applications, has launched the latest STM32 microprocessor (MPU) to enable the next generation of intelligent devices to create a safer, low-carbon and green life.

     Saving energy, reducing operating costs, improving safety and improving user experience are the main development trends of smart buildings, factory automation and smart cities. The latest applications that meet these demand trends, such as industrial automation, communication gateways, payment terminals, home appliances, and control panels, place higher requirements on processors with high software execution capabilities, low power consumption, higher security, and advanced functional integration.

     In response to these needs, stmicroelectronics has developed a family of MPUs based on years of deep STM32 microcontroller (MCU) precipitation and a strong development ecosystem. Now, the product family has welcomed a new member, the STM32MP13 MPU. The new product, now in mass production, is the most affordable STM32 MPUs to date, while further widening the selection range for product developers. The new microprocessor also supports the latest security features to protect connected devices.

With advanced security features, these devices accelerate end-product certification to today's most advanced security standards, including SESIP Level 3 and Payment Card Industry (PCI) PTS/POI 6.0 specification certification."

Features such as encryption engine and secure startup enable all the powerful network security features and functions, and advanced peripherals meet our demanding external requirements."

     Powered by a 1GHz Arm® Cortex®-A7 application processor core, the new MPU incorporates a wealth of peripherals and market-proven energy-saving innovations in the STM32 MCU. STM32MP13 ensures high security of Internet of Things devices through encryption algorithm accelerator, side channel protection, tamper-proof, secure storage, Arm TrustZone® technology and trusted firmware (TF-A and OP-TEE) security processing environment. Peripheral features include two gigabit Ethernet ports that can be easily integrated into industrial equipment such as programmable logic controllers (PLCS).

     STM32MP13 and STM32MP15 share development tools and software, of which the fully mainline OpenSTLinux distribution includes Linux board-level support packages (BSPS), drivers, a secure boot chain supported by safe production, and popular application frameworks. The OpenSTLinux distribution helps speed time to market for end products, saves development costs, and ensures seamless migration and scaling of software. The new X-LINUX-RT extension pack is available for STM32MP13 and STM32MP15 products and adds Linux real-time capabilities to the OpenSTLinux distribution.
