     Microsemi Corporation, a leading provider of differentiated semiconductor technology solutions in terms of power consumption, safety, reliability and performance, announced the availability of the LX3302, a new component in its sensor interface integrated circuit (IC) family based on inductive sensing technology. The sensor interface IC family is the industry's first induction sensor interface IC product family based on a linear variable differential transformer (LVDT) architecture on a printed circuit board (PCB), with the latest LX3302 device designed specifically for applications in the automotive, industrial and commercial aviation markets.

     Microsemi Corporation's LX3302 device outperforms the LX3301A device with an extended temperature range of 150 ° C and a richer set of system interfaces. Includes analog sine/cosine output, Single Edge Nibble Transmission (SENT) and peripheral sensor interface (PSI5), as well as standard analog output and pulse width modulation (PWM) output. In addition, the LX3302's EEPROM capacity is twice that of the LX3301A, allowing for 8-point calibration, which improves 1-bit system accuracy compared to the LX3301A's 6-point calibration, and allows for lower-cost sensor manufacturing with lower accuracy. By leveraging Megau Semi's expertise in inductive sensing technology and more than 5 years of experience in providing custom IC production, the new LX3302 device uses the LVDT principle to deliver excellent noise and anti-jamming performance.

     Shafy Eltoukhy, Vice President and business unit Manager at Microsemi Corporation, said: "Microsemi Corporation is excited to expand the market opportunity with the LX3302 device, our inductive sensing technology that can replace existing Hall-effect sensors that are susceptible to external magnetic fields and/or the proximity of metal targets. Induction technology eliminates the need for magnets, thereby improving immunity against such interference. Customers can use this emerging technology to significantly improve temperature stability, reliability, safety and system cost across a wide range of mechanical motion sensing applications."

     Since sensors are essentially the main component of the feedback loop in all closed-loop systems, and the LX3302 is suitable for a variety of applications related to control systems and industrial automation, This includes linear displacement measurement (level sensing, gear position for drive mechanism position and brake light switch/proximity detection) and angular motion measurement (arm position, shaft position, pedal position and rotation control). The device also meets stringent automotive application requirements, including AECQ100 certification level 0, and provides Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation support. In addition, Microsemi Corporation provides an experienced automotive support team to ensure customers can successfully launch their products.
