Molex ML-XTTM Seal connection systems provide market-leading seal technology for the commercial vehicle market

     Molex introduces the ML-XTa Sealed Connection system, a highly reliable safety sealing solution that minimizes electrical failures in harsh commercial vehicle applications while saving assembly costs for original equipment manufacturers and harness manufacturers. The ML-XT system complies with IP68 protection and withstands J2030 power flushing. It features a one-piece plug housing and seal design and is permanently bonded by state-of-the-art two-time LSR(liquid silicone rubber) injection molding technology. This enables permanent and repeatable plug seal retention and prevents the seal from rolling during insertion and removal, ensuring proper seal positioning operation. In addition, the risk of missing or missing seals during installation and maintenance is eliminated.

     Denis O 'Sullivan, Global Product Manager at Molex, said: "Most standard systems are supplied without a rear sealing gland for the housing, leaving the seal exposed and unprotected. The ML-XT system includes a housing with a pre-installed rear seal that locks firmly into place and is protected by a latching rear gland. In addition, the need for welding is avoided. This allows Molex to provide a direct, cost-effective alternative to current commercial vehicle standard sealed connectors used in a wide range of harsh environment applications."

     The ML-XT's rear seal is made of high consistency rubber (HCR) to improve tear strength and protection during terminal insertion and removal. The protective back cover allows flexible cable extraction and cable movement while maintaining the optimal seal position to prevent leakage pathways. A wedge lock or Terminal Position Assurance (TPA) lock the terminal in place for reliable electrical contact, while the plug housing has an integral plug lock for secure insertion and removal.

     Currently available in 2, 4, 6, and 18 circuit versions, ML-XT systems offer high design flexibility for a variety of sensor technologies and low circuit number applications. The proven Molex XRC™ terminals provide current ratings up to 13.0 amps, while nine color-coded housings allow easy wiring harness insertion and removal to prevent mismatching.
