NXP introduces the industry's first 12V smart amplifier

     NXP Semiconductors introduces the industry's first 12V smart audio amplifier, the TFA9892. This audio amplifier combines power and compact form factor with high output power, high efficiency, and excellent drum elasticity to achieve deeper, full bass, delivering exceptional sound quality to a wide range of electronic devices such as smartphones, netbooks, and bar speakers.

     The TFA9892 is the industry's first power amplifier capable of delivering a 12V enhanced output of more than 7W on a single battery and up to 15W on a 12V power supply. In addition to its best-in-class power performance, the TFA9892 provides intelligent speaker protection by implementing current, power and temperature detection to ensure that consumers enjoy sound quality safely.

     The new TFA9892 features an embedded onboard DSP with an integrated speaker enhancement algorithm that significantly improves bass and drum performance while reducing background noise and eliminating compression distortion. With this enhanced audio performance, the TFA9892 delivers superior energy efficiency to 8Ω speakers while simultaneously increasing volume and dynamic range.

     In addition, the TFA9892 is also highly efficient and can effectively reduce power consumption, thus creating an ultra-long endurance audio playback and listening experience for consumers. NXP has integrated best-in-class speaker protection algorithms into the TFA9892, enabling it to deliver power output up to 7.4W + for a 2W rated 8Ω speaker with 1% total harmonic distortion (THD) on a 4.2V battery.
