OmniVision introduces Automotive Camera PMIC solution supporting functional safety ASIL B

     With the advent of intelligent driving and intelligent cockpit technology, car cameras have become an indispensable part of multi-sensor fusion. The recognition of the external environment is enhanced by the algorithm perception, and the status monitoring of the driver and passenger is enhanced to improve the level of auxiliary driving and the ride comfort of the driver and passenger. The high performance of ADAS cameras is demanded by automotive perception system.

     In recent years, the loading rate of automotive ADAS(Advanced Driving Assistance System) is growing rapidly, and the technology is mainly concentrated in L2~L3 level driving assistance systems. In order to achieve these functions, the number of cameras in the bike perception system is at least five or more, mainly including the front/round view camera, the side view camera for blind spot monitoring, the rear view camera for reversing assistance, and the internal view camera for cabin monitoring. Together, these cameras perform functions such as lane departure maintenance, adaptive cruise control, 360 panoramic images, and assisted driving.

     With the evolution of ADAS from L2+ to a higher level of assisted driving system, the type and number of cameras are gradually increasing, and the function is gradually becoming stronger, so the power management chip that supplies power to the car camera is also put forward higher requirements, such as small package, low power consumption, high efficiency, and has the functional safety standard that meets ISO26262.

The PMIC comes in a QFN4x4mm2 package with a wide input voltage range of 4.0V to 18V and consists of a medium voltage DCDC Buck regulator, two low voltage DCDC Buck regulators and a high PSRR low noise LDO.

     Among them, the LDO is optimized for the sensitive frequency range of the camera (100K~1MHz), which can better suppress the influence of power noise on the image quality. Flexible power-on timing control ensures stable operation of the system. Support spread frequency function, improve the EMI performance of the system.
