Renesas' highly integrated and configurable PMIC is ideal for car cameras and MCU applications

     Renesas' RAA271082 multi-track Power Supply IC features one primary high voltage synchronous step-down regulator, two secondary low voltage synchronous step-down regulators and one LDO regulator. It offers four overvoltage (OV) and undervoltage (UV) monitors, I2C communications, universal I/O pins, and dedicated reset output/failure indicators.

     The RAA271082 was designed using the ASIL-D ISO 26262 development process to meet the ASIL-B device specifications. The RAA271082 comes in a 4 mm x 4 mm 24 lead step cut QFN (SCQFN) package with bare pad for improved thermal performance. It meets the requirements of AEC-Q100 Class 1 and can operate in ambient temperatures ranging from -40°C to +125°C, with junction temperatures ranging from -40°C to +150°C for electrical specifications.

     The RAA271082 includes a second bandgap reference for the OV/UV monitor, built-in self-check at power-on, independent OV/UV monitoring, and continuous CRC error checking for internal registers and I2C communications. The RAA271082 requires very few external components and minimal board space to provide a high-density power solution.

     It provides an extensive feature set configured using internal disposable programmable (OTP) memory. Almost all device options (such as each output voltage selection, power sequencing, and OV/UV threshold) are configured internally and can be selected without external components. The regulator also provides internal compensation. Step-down converters are synchronized to achieve high efficiency and are capable of operating in harsh environments requiring high ambient temperatures.
