STMicroelectronics' latest 16V CMOS analog comparator improves energy efficiency, speed and reliability

     STMicroelectronics uses the latest manufacturing process to upgrade and improve its 16V CMOS two-way and four-way analog comparators. The new products reduce power consumption, typical power consumption of each comparator is 5µA, the propagation time is shorter, and the ESD anti-static capacity is increased to 4kV. The new devices are rated for -40°C to 125°C and have higher ESD capability than the previous generation, thus improving the reliability of the sensing and control system in harsh environments.

     The new TSX393, TSX339, TSX3702 and TSX3704 are compatible with previous generation products, further expanding the performance and energy efficiency advantages of ST CMOS products compared with other manufacturers' bipolar comparators. The new comparator uses a 2.7-16V wide voltage single supply for standard voltages in a variety of applications, including industrial and automotive equipment.

     The TSX393 and TSX339 integrate two and four comparators, respectively, and open drain outputs to help simplify circuit design where ORing or level switching functions are required. The two-way comparator TSX3702 and the four-way comparator TSX3704 have push-pull outputs for reliable signal input and output without a pull-up resistor. Output drive capacity up to 20mA, can be directly connected to a variety of analog or digital loads.

     ST's latest products also introduce new, smaller packages that facilitate the integration of new products into customer designs, simplifying printed circuit board layout and wiring. In addition to the existing SO-8, Mini-SO8 and TSSOP-8 packages, the TSX393 and TSX3702 are available in 2mm x 2mm DFN8 packages. The TSX339 and TSX3704 are available in 3mm x 3mm QFN16 as well as SO-14 and TSSOP-14 packages. St is currently certifies the SO-8 and TSOP-14 devices to the AEC-Q100 standard.
