STMicroelectronics mass-produces unique satellite demodulator chips for major customer Newtec

     STMicroelectronics announced the mass production of the world's first 500 megabut high Character rate (HSR) chip with integrated tuner and demodulator for major customer Newtec Satellite Communications. Newtec is a professional manufacturer of satellite communication equipment technology.

     In order to improve the bandwidth utilization and throughput of high-end satellite terminals and broadband broadcast dual-mode equipment, STiD135 demodulators support DVB-S2, DVB-S2X and DVB-S2 Annex-M[1] standards, and can provide the transmission rate equivalent to that of optical fiber networks. Take advantage of the omnipresence of satellite signals to improve network coverage.

     Newtec uses STiD135 for its wideband VSAT satellite station modem products. The latest addition to the Newtec Dialog® multi-service platform, Newtec's MDM2210 IP satellite modem is the first VSAT[2] modem on the market to support the 500 megabit forward carrier and DVB-S2X standards.

     The STMicroelectronics chip implements four full-frequency tuners, HSR dual demodulators, and up to eight narrowband demodulators, hardware supports Network Clock recovery (NCR), enables single-carrier communication on high-throughput satellite (HTS) transponders, optimizes Ka-band and multipoint beam technology on these transponders, and optimizes the efficiency of Ka-band and multipoint beam technology on these transponders. 30% higher channel utilization than multi-carrier solutions.

     STiD135 chip can demodulate two independent broadband carriers and eight narrowband carriers, and can receive multiple broadcast channels while receiving high throughput data, which is a very useful function for broadband broadcast dual-mode systems. The total effective throughput is higher than 600 megabits per second, and the on-chip data filtering ensures that only data that requires subsequent processing by the main system is sent.

     The design takes into account the market demand for low power consumption and a wide temperature range, helping to expand the range of products and applications, including outdoor units, intelligent high frequency heads, broadband broadcast dual-mode home gateways, VSAT satellite stations, home office modems, mobile platforms, data center modems, etc.
