STMicroelectronics' new high-connectivity STM32L4 iot Discovery Suite

     STMicroelectronics' new high-connectivity STM32L4 iot Discovery Suite (B-L475E-IOT01A) gives developers the highest flexibility in the industry to develop iot nodes, supporting many low-power wireless communication standards and Wi-Fi network connectivity. It also integrates motion sensors, gesture control sensors and environmental sensors that are not available on the market.

     Designed to help instantly connect iot hardware to cloud services while ensuring high energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness, St's new iot development kit integrates a high-performance, ultra-low-power STM32L4 microcontroller with Bluetooth low energy (BLE), sub-GHz[1] RF and Wi-Fi wireless communication modules, and a dynamic NFC tag IC with a printed antenna on the same board.

     With STMicroelectronics' robust MEMS(Micro-electro-mechanical Systems) portfolio and laser ranging sensors, the Discovery Suite offers a rich array of sensors for human-computer interaction and environmental awareness applications. A MEMS accelerometer and gyroscope chip and a MEMS magnetometer (9-axis motion sensor), a pressure sensor, a temperature and humidity sensor, two universal digital microphones, as well as a FlightSense proximity sensor and gesture control sensor are integrated on the board.

     The Discovery Suite enables users to quickly connect to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) iot platform using ST's X-Cub-AWS extension software, use cloud server tools and services such as device monitoring, data analytics and machine learning, and will support other cloud service providers and software feature packs in the future. Provide all the components needed to develop an end-to-end iot solution, including pre-integration of all application routines.

     The core component of STMicroelectronics' new high Connectivity Discovery Suite is an 80MHz STM32L475 32-bit microcontroller based on an ARM® Cortex®-M4 processor core with DSP extended instruction set support, 1MB of flash memory, and 1MB of flash memory. The use of ST's ultra-low power technology helps developers develop smart iot hardware that meets low power requirements. The integrated microcontroller and rich sensor and wireless connectivity modules on the board maximize the utility of the Discovery suite, while adding more features with Arduino and Pmod industry standard expansion connectors to suit your needs. These two mature ecosystems also allow users to select a large number of expansion boards that can be quickly and easily connected to the development board.

     Onboard ST-Link debugger/programmer, the STM32L4 Discovery Suite iot node does not require any external probes, supports ARM Keil MDK-ARM, IAR EWARM, or GCC/ LLVM-based integrated development environments (IDE) including the free AC6 SW4STM32, And the mbed online tool.
