     In the field of chip foundry, since the fourth quarter, TSMC, UMC, World Advanced and other 8-inch wafer foundry production capacity is in short supply, and the OEM price of some manufacturers has risen by 10 to 20%, and the delivery time has been extended from the normal two months to four months. In order to ensure sufficient production capacity, many IC designers have begun to book 2021 production capacity, and some long orders have even been placed in the second quarter of 2021.

     The price of the closed test is also higher. According to the data of semiconductor industry observation, sealed test manufacturers have increased the packaging price of wire rack and wire by 10% in October 2020, the price of sealed test new orders after November has increased by about 20%, and the price of urgent orders has increased by about 20-30%, and the global sealed test leader ASE has announced that the price of sealed test in 2021 Q1 has increased by 5~ 10%. The industry expects the shortage of packaging capacity to continue until at least the second quarter of 2021.

     In terms of MCU products, the price of some MCU products of automotive electronics has increased by 20%-30%, according to the data of Fuchang Electronics, the delivery time of Infineon 32-bit MCU is 15-24 weeks, and the delivery time of ST MCU is 24-35 weeks, and there is an extended trend. Recently, Hangshun Chip, one of the earliest enterprises in the development of 32-bit MCU, also announced a notice to increase the price of MCU.

     The supply-driven boom is reflected in share prices: the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index is up more than 50 per cent this year, well ahead of the 14 per cent rise in the S&P.
