TDK's power capacitors provide minimal loss at higher frequencies

TDK EPCOS ModCap is a modular capacitor concept suitable for DC link applications. The B25645A intermediate frequency power capacitor is suitable for rated voltages from 1,100 V to 2,300 V, covering the capacitance range from 365 µF to 3,900 µF. It is rated between 105 A and 180 A, with model limitations, and is designed for 5 kA periodic pulse current. The maximum allowable hot spot temperature is +90°C.

B25647A high-frequency power capacitors are suitable for rated voltages from 900 V to 1,600 V, with capacitance ranges from 640 µF to 1,850 µF. The rated current ranges from 160 A to 210 A and the maximum allowable hot spot temperature is +90°C, depending on the model.

Thanks to this design, the capacitor can be installed very close to the IGBT module, so the lead length can be very short. Very low self-inductance prevents voltage overshoot on the power semiconductor when the current is cut off. Therefore, buffer capacitors are usually not required. This design also makes it easy to connect capacitors in parallel. Typical applications are compact drives for traction, renewable energy and industrial applications.
