Texas Instruments 2.5A synchronous boost converter

Texas Instruments TLV61070A is a synchronous boost converter with an ultra-low input voltage of 0.5V that provides a power solution for portable devices and smart devices powered by a variety of batteries and supercapacitors. The typical valley switching current is limited to 2.5 A over the entire temperature range. The device has a wide input voltage range of 0.5 V to 5.5 V, supporting applications of supercapacitor backup power sources that can be deeply discharged to supercapacitors.

The TLV61070A operates at a switching frequency of 1 MHz when the input voltage is greater than 1.5 V. When the input voltage is 1 V to 1.5 V, the switching frequency gradually decreases to 0.55 MHz. The converter enters the power saving mode under light load conditions to maintain high efficiency within the load current range. The converter consumes 20 µA static current from the VOUT under light load conditions.

During the shutdown, the TLV61070A is completely disconnected from the input power supply and consumes 0.1 µA of current to achieve long battery life. Other features include 5.7V output overvoltage protection (OVP), output short circuit protection, and thermal shutdown protection. The device offers a very small solution size in a 2.9mm x 1.6mm SOT23-6 (DBV) package with minimal external components.
