Texas Instruments introduces an AC input transistor output single-channel optical simulator for automotive applications
The Texas Instruments ISOM811x-Q1 device is a single-channel optocoupler emulator with a LED emulator input and a transistor output. The device is package compatible with many traditional optocouplers and pin-to-pin upgrades, allowing existing systems to be improved without redesigning the PCB.
Optical simulators offer significant reliability and performance advantages over optical couplers, including high bandwidth, low turn-off delay, low power consumption, wider temperature range, flat CTR, and tight process control, resulting in small deviations between components. Because there are no aging effects or temperature changes to compensate for, the simulated LED input stage consumes less power than the optocoupler.
These devices are available in a small SOIC-4 package with pin spacing of 2.54mm and 1.27mm and support 3.75kVRMS isolation ratings and DC (ISOM811[0-3]-Q1) and bidirectional DC (ISOM811[5-8]-Q1) input options. Their high performance and reliability enable them to be used in power feedback designs, motor drives, I/O modules in industrial controllers, factory automation applications, and more.
