The new vcso family with ultra-low phase noise performance for radar applications
Microchip Technology has announced the launch of its new 101765 series vcso designed to deliver ultra-low phase noise, operating at 320MHz and 400MHz. The 101765-320-A VCSO provides 166dBc of ultra-low phase noise performance and 182dBc of underlying noise at 10kHz bias.
The 101765-320-A-N-S-TB and 101765-400-B-N-S-TB test boards support VCSO devices, allowing customers to test parts at the design stage. In radar and other sensing applications, low phase noise is critical to raising the detection limit. These devices are optimal for radar and instrumentation systems, such as Active electronically scanned Arrays (AESA), where high fidelity is required in critical PLL timing applications.
The vcso comes in a small size, 1 "x 1" sealed Kovar package designed for applications where size, weight, power and cost are important factors. They offer supply voltages from 4.75V to 15.75V and supply currents from 111mA to provide energy-efficient timing solutions.

Customers can choose Microchip to meet their timing needs and select additional components for their applications, including FPgas, MPUs, MCUS, RF, power management, security and connectivity."
For aerospace and defense customers requiring greater reliability, the 101765 vcso can be screened with the MIL-PRF-38534. The screening process ensures that only the most reliable components are used in critical applications, such as defense and aerospace systems, where failure is unlikely.
The VCSO family is a new addition to the company's SAW family of products for aerospace and defense applications, designed to provide a high level of reliability for robust mission-critical environments. They offer a wide range of packaging options for rugged applications and support a center frequency range from 30MHz to 2.7GHz. In addition, the company can handle ITAR, EAR, and hardware classification specifications to meet customers' security needs.
