Vishay introduces new automotive-grade ultra-thin, high-current inductors with integrated electric field shielding

Vishay Intertechnology has announced the introduction of new automotive grade inductors in 2525, 3232 and 4040 form factors, expanding the range of applications of the IHLE series of ultra-thin, high-current inductors. The inductor has an integrated electric field shield to reduce EMI. With the Vishay Dale IHLE-2525CD-5A, IHLE-3232DD-5A, and IHLE-4040DD-5A, the system does not require separate board-level Faraday shielding, reducing costs and saving board space. The inductor can contain the electric field associated with EMI in the tin-plated copper integrated shield. When the integrated shield is connected to the ground, the electric field 1cm above the center of the inductor can be reduced by up to -20dB.
The new inductor is AEC-Q200 certified and can be operated at +155 ° C with coplanarity of 4 joints up to 100μm. Suitable for automotive engine and transmission control units, fuel injection drives, engine noise suppression, wipers, electric mirrors and seats, entertainment/navigation systems, DC/DC converters for HID lighting, and energy storage in high-current filtering. In addition, the device's 4-connector connections (two are shielded ground connections) have good vibration resistance and can be used in engine and chassis mounted electronic circuits.
The IHLE-2525CD-5A, IHLE-3232DD-5A, and IHLE-4040DD-5A are manufactured using Vishay Dale IHLP technology and are highly efficient, with typical DCR from 1.55 mΩ to 167mΩ and inductance values from 0.22μH to 47μH. The device has a current rating of 36.0A and can handle high transient current spikes without saturation. The inductors are packaged in a RoHS compliant, 100% lead-free shielding structure that provides excellent protection against thermal shock, moisture and mechanical vibration. The device is halogen-free and meets Vishay green standards.
