Vishay introduces new integrated power photothyristors

     Vishay Intertechnology has announced the introduction of the new integrated power photothyristor VO2223B with current up to 1A, which directly drives medium-power AC loads. VishaySemiconductorsVO2223B dv/dt performance reach 60 ov/us, has the very high stability and noise isolation function, can be used for household appliances and industrial equipment.

     The device consists of an optically coupled photosensitive thyristor, a powerful integrated power bidirectional thyristor in a small DIP package. Since there is no need to use external power bidirectional thyristor, VO2223B can effectively reduce design costs and save board space. Coupled with high dv/dt, these advantages are even more prominent, expanding the safety margin and eliminating the need for expensive buffering networks.

     Power photothyristor isolation voltage up to 600V, can control 240VAC off-line voltage, and there is enough margin to make the off-line voltage up to 380VAC. The input-output isolation voltage of the device reaches 5300V, further improving safety. The maximum input trigger current of the device is only 10mA, which makes it easy to interface with digital logic. The VO2223B is suitable for use in noisy environments, with typical applications including air conditioners, refrigerators, water heaters, washing machines and electric ovens, as well as the control of motors, valves and pumps in smart home thermostatic devices, smart light controllers, ground heating systems and magnetic door controls.
