Vishay's rectifiers offer X and W speed grades
Vishay's FRED Pt Gen 5 600V ultra high Speed rectifier comes in a fully isolated TO-220 FullPAK 2L package. These 12 A and 15 A devices are designed to improve the efficiency of IF converters as well as hard/soft switching or resonant designs, providing the best reverse recovery performance in their class. These devices reduce reverse recovery charge (Qrr) by 60% compared to previous generation solutions, resulting in a 90% reduction in recovery losses. In addition, these rectifiers provide a 10% increase in reverse recovery energy (EREC) compared to their closest competitors, have a softer recovery tail to better reduce EMI, and operate more consistently throughout the operating temperature range to improve thermal performance.
With this new addition to its Gen 5 600 V FRED Pt rectifier family, Vishay extends the benefits of high-end chip technology to different circuit topologies, including classic and bridless power factor correction (PFC) front-end configurations. These devices will be used as output and PFC rectifiers for AC/DC and DC/DC power levels in industrial applications, including air conditioners, non-on-board chargers, lighting, hybrid solar inverters and UPS, to ensure system reliability and robustness without compromising performance.
These devices are available in X, H and W speed grades. For CCM and resonant applications with higher switching frequencies up to 100 kHz and di/dt as low as 350 kHz, W-type devices have lower Qrr and X-type rectifiers have lower forward voltage. These rectifiers are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and operate at temperatures up to +175°C with an isolation voltage of 2,500 V.
